As Earth Month comes to a close, there is something I would like to remind my readers. This blog is not about “saving the planet“. Although this is an environmentalist blog, its primary goal is not to save the ecosystems that exist in the biosphere, the tiny layer above and including the Earth’s surface that is able to support life. To the contrary, life on Earth will get along just fine after the results of climate change are fully manifested, just as it was able to recover from the K-T mass extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs, or the (even larger) Permian mass extinction that preceded them:

The thing we’re trying to save is none other than human civilization itself.
